A South-of-Hillside Avenue resident of New Hyde Park (who requested that she remain anonymous) shared a potential Amazon delivery scam.
In the first incident, she received a delivery to her porch. The package had her address, not her name -the name was also unfamiliar to her. Two hours later, a man rang her doorbell and explained that the package was for his grandmother. She obliged and gave the man the package.
In the second incident, note that she made previous purchases on an App called ‘Shopify,’ an e-commerce site offering standard delivery tracking. Still, she made no purchases and noticed a delivery due to her address. She declined the delivery and then informed the USPS of the situation.
The man then showed up looking for the package again.
The neighbor then pieced a few things together: she suspects the man found her house via the Zillow website, as her home is currently on sale, and he expected a vacated address.
On March 29, 2023, NETFLIX will feature an episodic series called ‘EMERGENCY NYC’
Here is its trailer:
The series follows first responders and trauma specialists across the New York City area, including Long Island.
In my research, I found that a Doctor named, Dr. Jose Prince, Director of Pediatric Surgery at the Cohen’s Children’s Hospital Center of New Hyde Park spoke on the profession’s particular problems.
Dr. Prince has promoted the show on his Twitter account as well:
Great to see the positive exposure for New Hyde Park!
During the 2/15/2023 Civic Meeting, a resident posed a question to Supervisor DeSena which highlighted the un-walkable sidewalk along Marcus Avenue and Laurel Drive.
Location:
Supervisor DeSena clarified that she would follow up on the matter.
The following video captures the sidewalk along with the Supervisor’s comments:
I attended the LECA meeting, which featured Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena.
The meeting took place at the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Station on 78th Avenue. You can watch the entire meeting here: LECA FACEBOOK LIVE 2/15/2023
Some clips I took from the meeting:
In this clip, Supervisor DeSena spoke on Gov Hochul’s Affordable Housing plan, which will affect the New Hyde Park area -specifically within the radius of the New Hyde Park LIRR Metro Stop.
In this clip, Supervisor DeSena answers a question about Center Median Clean Up on Hillside Avenue:
During a more tense part of the meeting, Supervisor DeSena addresses a question about the lack of e-mail responsivity:
During the Spring of 2021, I observed the following homeless man lying down at the Dairy Barn in New Hyde Park.
I had offered him a bottle of water, but he refused gruffly.
Having recently attended a Lakeville Association Civic meeting, I realized homelessness was an issue in the New Hyde Park area (not so prevalent before the pandemic).
